Barbs Bags and Got Interfacing
Beautiful colorful fireworks on water. Brno dam. International Fireworks Competition Ignis Brunensis. Brno - Czech Republic - Europe.

Happy July 4th Month!

Lots of fireworks planned around the country as we celebrate our independence! Independence...the quality or state of being independent! There are so many fabric sellers, pattern designers, hardware sellers, interfacing sellers, that make up our bag making community, which enables the end result of bag makers’ small businesses! We have our own independent small business community! We can choose to be a part of this community because we are free to choose! Free to put our God-given talents/creative minds into action! How awesome! And we can choose to use quality or inferior products for our bags.

The reason I sell wovenFuse and Decovil only is because I know they give best quality, professional results. If I knew of any other products that I could say that about, I’d add them to my inventory! Freedom! Freedom to choose quality! Freedom to make our best quality products! I thank God for our freedom in this free country!

Will I Finish My 2-year-wip Travel Bag In Time For My Next California Trip?

Not looking good! It’s been one thing after another!

The polyester thread recommended by another group just shreds before even going through needle! I was told maybe just a bad spool. Since I had already done a lot of top stitching I didn’t want to change color shade so I ordered another spool. Same thing after a long wait for it to arrive! Shreds!

So I broke down and ordered some bonded nylon. Well it arrived and I'm very disappointed! The picture on ebay showed two pinks and they sent the one that is actually hot pink. In response to my email, they said that was the only pink they had! So now what??

If you haven’t guessed yet on whether or not I will finish my travel bag by time I fly to California, there’s still time to enter! Just post your guess in my group! FaceBook Group

WATER PROOFING FABRIC WITH ODICOAT

WATER PROOFING FABRIC WITH ODICOAT
Well I tried something new!  Not difficult, but I do think there are a few tips to learn to perfecting this process. I'm talking about waterproofing my fabric with Odicoat for a classic zip around wallet by Maggy55.  I want to do this pattern in leather but my leather tools are so limited, plus I think for the first one …

Sew-a-Long

To start this month of “freedom” off right, join in on our sew-a-long, featuring Sue Cheek’s maggy55 classic Zip Around Wallet, led by Christi Lee, who does an awesome job of weekly videos. Plus Sue will be chiming in to help! Awesome team effort! Classy results in leather, vinyl, or fabric. If using fabric you can waterproof/stain proof your fabric. I used odicoat. I’ve been experimenting with it to see how to get best results. You can check out my blog here: https://www.gotinterfacing.com/blog/

Key point...thin as possible! It gives a great smooth finish with a slight sheen. I’m excited to make a czw this way! I’ve also got some leather cut out and have been experimenting with hand skiving techniques. Messy messy messy! But...doable! LOL!

Another blog coming soon on that! The sew along started July 3rd. Videos will be available and it’s weekly lessons so you can go at your own pace. So come join the fun!

This month’s prize goes to Suzanne Bennett Codding. Suzanne says:

First “big” bag done. I must say I absolutely love wovenfuse. Sadly I used sf 101 on the main bag before I found out about it. The straps are made with woven fuse. What a difference. Now to make another using wovenfuse in its entirety.”

Congratulations Suzanne...private message or email me to collect your prize!
