Barbs Bags and Got Interfacing

HAPPY DECEMBER!!

Wow! Here it is the second week of December, and I don’t think I ever got November newsletter out! So sorry guys! Time goes by so very quickly! Seems no matter how hard I try starting in January each year to prepare for next Christmas, it always seems to just slip on by, interrupted continually by day-to-day life! Plus having an over crowded sewing room, and an undeniable urgent desire to buy a cylinder machine and skiver, with nowhere to put them (and no money to buy them) ... sure puts a damper on my sewing mojo!

Life did interfere for a couple of months during my vacation, which was extended very long due to one of my sisters having a brain aneurysm bleed. Amazingly, God was so gracious to pull her through with no significant damage! She’s always been a walker and last I heard she is back to walking 2 1/2 miles! I’m so very thankful! You’d never know she’d been through such a traumatic experience!

But now it’s almost Christmas and none of my gifts are handcrafted! I have lots of gifts almost completed but I’m doubtful they’ll be ready by Christmas! Maybe....maybe, I can save them for next year and for once have a head start on Christmas??? Nah...once I finish I’ll be dying to give to them!

So what does this season mean to you? Is the season filled with so much shopping and sewing that we become so overwhelmed that there’s no time to enjoy and reflect on things that are important? Like the reason we celebrate, or what family means to us? Or being thankful for all the “gifts” bestowed upon us in life like a roof over our head, food on our table, when so many people are homeless? I pray each of us will take time to enjoy what God has blessed us with. Then reach out to someone who hasn’t had it so easy. Watch God work wonders in your life as you focus on what’s important in life. Give of yourself!

#12 DAYS of CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY

12 day of christmas
It’s that time again! Our annual Christmas giveaway! We have tons of Donors and I’m so very thankful for each one of them! And so very thankful for all the work my helpers did to help put this together! My right-hand helper, Kellie Toles, who has been an invaluable part of my team, and my life for some time now. I don’t know what I’d do without her! And I DON’T want to find out! And Keleesha Marley, my newest team member. Super supporter! And so sweet! Also a couple of indispensable helpers who are not admins. They know who they are. Best part, my team is all Christian! It was not a requirement, but God has a way of putting us together! Amazing! Also want to thank Gloria Bonham for all the work she’s done for my group, for collecting a huge portion of the prizes for this event! Thank you Gloria!

NEW PRODUCT

By now I hope y’all have heard about my new product, wovenFuse2! I had purchased a shipment to see how it would be accepted and it flew out the window! New, complete layer of gluing, slightly more body than original wovenFuse. There’s a purpose for both versions! Original wovenFuse for areas you want just a 'lil less structure. I've created a comparison of my products, which I hope is helpful.

The new product will be available in January and hope to keep it as a permanent inventory.

WovenFuse2 difference

Here’s a rundown of all my products

Wovenfuse is a cotton woven interfacing used to stabilize your fabric. It gives regular quilting cotton more of a home deco weight with good draping ability. Its a cloth type interfacing so reacts/drapes like cloth. Use that first before applying any other interfacing. It will prevent wrinkling/dimpling that nonwovens can cause if applied without a woven first. Nonwovens are a paper and therefore you’ll get a paper-like draping.

WovenFuse2 is my latest product...the difference from wovenFuse: Still a woven, Slightly more body: denser than original WovenFuse, with a different glue which covers one side completely! It’s 46” wide!

Decovil is non woven. Its purpose is to give more body. Decovil gives a leather-like handle. I only sell these two items because I know they give the best professional results. Decovil light is used in place of foam, 809, and fusible fleece. But those interfacings do have a use as times. Decovil heavy is used for bag bottoms in place of peltex. Decovil does not retain wrinkles like peltex does. Also use it for wallets, flaps, wherever you want more structure. Keep Decovil heavy out of seam allowance and insert and fuse after turning whenever possible. WovenFuse does not need moisture for fusing. Decovil does need moisture, although some fuse without but moisture is recommended by the manufacturer. Use pressing cloth over Decovil. And both can be fused in heat press.

Be on the lookout for wovenFuse2 coming soon! You’re gonna love it!

Merry Christmas!

We at Barb’s Bags, that would be Stephanie and I ... Just want to express our heartfelt thanks for all our group members, our customers, my helpers, my friends, for supporting me and my little business. Without you, only God knows where I’d be today and I’m sooo very thankful for you all! I've had some struggles along the way, but God is always there to pick me up and get me back on track. I’ve always said, it’s His business! He gave me the responsibility to manage it and He guides me all the way. I’m so very thankful, my cup runneth over! Keep on sewing, friends! And happy fusing!

AND....Merry Christmas! May you all remember The Reason For The Season! See you next year with a brand new product!
