Basic Use of Interfacing

May is here....and almost gone!

Wow! I'm slow this month! Got off to a REALLY busy start with my first ever retreat! Sixty women! We stayed at the awesome Grandover Resort in Greensboro NC, and sewed up 3 different items.

What a happy event it was! And was awesome to meet so many of our bag group members! Lots of help from sooo many!

Starting with Caran DuBois and Steph McKratt as my planning experts! They helped me put this retreat together, and advised me on things I definitely fell short on, this being my first retreat ever. I could not have done it without them!

Stephanie Edwards, my daughter, who jumped in to help when things got desperate! My lil helper, Everlie Grace, who taped bags to each sewing station!

Next, Simona Businelli who designed this exclusive pattern just for our retreat! Kris Macintosh, who worked relentlessly to write Simona’s pattern, Alaska! Simona took on a new career this year and struggled to provide the exclusive pattern she had gifted for my retreat. Kris rescued her (and my retreat!) and wrote the pattern (with Simona’s input). Barbara Readling and Christi Lee who were big helpers at the retreat!

And of course our awesome teachers Lauren Mormino, from MoreMeKnow and Sew Whatever, Lauren Whitney, from xoxo Lauren, who jointly taught Alaska (alternating,) Linda Handley, who taught her awesome version of Emaline’s Retreat bag, making it a carpet bag, and taught how to make your own frames, and Nicole Neales of SewGnar who taught how to make her cork wallet!

They all had a huge challenge as we were given one huge room for the retreat, filled with 60 women, at the last minute instead of 2 rooms. They met the challenge head on and passed with flying colors! Hats off to you teachers! You did a fantastic job! Nicole missing from this photo.

Everyone seemed super excited about the retreat, and most want a repeat performance! I have my doubts. Its a huge undertaking! I'm not the spring chicken I used to be, and all the trials, the hurdles we had to jump were just too stressful! But it was an awesome adventure that i will treasure the memories of forever! I'm so thankful for the opportunity I had to pull this off! You can get a sneak peak of a slide show of the retreat here, put together by Rosa Rodriguez. Thank you sooo much Rosa! Rosa voluntarily took her time to gather LOTS of photos for us to cherish! Please leave a comment on Rosa’s video! Watch Video
