Difference of Each of My Interfacings

So many ask what the difference of each of my interfacings so thought I’d post this here.

WovenFuse original is a woven, cotton, interfacing with a bumpy glue side. It stabilizes your fabrics and gives a little structure with super drape. It is recommended to apply it first before any other interfacing. It will help prevent wrinkling/dimpling nonwovens can cause if not covered with a woven first. It’s made of cloth, therefore keeps a drape like cloth, whereas nonwovens are actually paper and give a paper drape. Its 44” wide, comparable to sf 101 only better.

WovenFuse2 difference. Slightly more body: denser than original WovenFuse, with a different, shiny, smooth glue which covers one side completely! Lauren Mormino described it like a half layer of Decovil light. Wf2 is 46” wide!

Decovil is non woven. Its purpose is to give more body. Decovil gives a leather-like handle. I only sell these four items because i know they give the best professional results. Decovil light is used in place of foam, 809, and fusible fleece. But those interfacings do have a purpose at times. Decovil heavy is used for bag bottoms in place of peltex. Decovil does not retain wrinkles like peltex does. Also use it for wallets, flaps, wherever you want more structure. Keep Decovil heavy out of seam allowance, and insert and fuse after turning whenever possible. Decovil light can be left in seam allowance, but in certain small/tight areas you might want to leave out. WovenFuse does not need moisture for fusing. Decovil does. Use pressing cloth over Decovil. And both can be fused in heat press.

Grandma's Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits

by Ann Stewart
Prep Time15 mins. Cook Time15 mins. Total Time 30 mins. Servings: 6 -8.

This recipe yields the most perfect, flaky, and delicious biscuits every single time you make them.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoon salted butter melted to brush on top

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425. Sift flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl. Transfer to a food processor. Cut frozen butter into cubes and add to flour, then pulse 6 or 7 times until it looks like a loose crumble. Place the dough back in the bowl, add buttermilk and stir with a spatula until it forms a rough ball (don’t worry if it is a little sticky).
  2. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it into a rough rectangle, about an inch thick. Fold it over and gently roll it down again. Repeat 6 times.
  3. Gently roll out the dough once more, so that it forms a rectangle. Cut dough into biscuits using a floured glass or biscuit cutter. Do not twist cutter when cutting; this will crimp the edges of the biscuit causing it not to rise. If you have scraps just reform a rectangle and cut additional biscuits.
  4. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and place in oven. Make sure they're touching. Bake
  5. until golden brown, approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Serves 6 to 8. Brush on the melted butter and enjoy!
  6. NOTE: If you don't have a food processor, you can cut butter into flour in the mixing bowl using a grater, fork or a pastry cutter.
